Far exceeded my expectations-excellent bibshorts.

These Competizione bibshorts far exceeded my expectations. I'm a big fan of Castelli and have serveral jerseys and jackets, but have never purchsed Castelli bibshorts. However, the bike club I belong to uses Castelli for their custom kits, and these bibshorts were highly recommended by other club members. I bought 2 pair of these during the recent sale and I regret not buying a couple of additional pairs. But even at the regular price I beleive the Competizione bibshorts are a great value
I had to chance to waer these on a recent ride and was quite impressed with the fit, I prefer the high-compression the fabric provided, and the seat pad was comfortable on a long 4 1/2 hour ride. I liked the wide shoulder straps, which provided good support, and were comfortable.
For me the size large recommended by the Casteilli sizing chart fit me perfectly, I'm 176 cm tall, and 86 kg (on a good day).

So as to help out others: I am 5'11" 190 lbs with average build (you get what you get genetics-wise!) with slightly bigger thighs than the average build. The XXL (yes, a double-X-L) fits me well. An XL would have been too tight to reasonably wear.
The fit is tight enough but not too tight.
Leg and strap length fits me well.
I intend to use this indoors so the thin material is appropriate and what I prefer.
Pad more than sufficient for 30-45 minutes of cycling.

These are without doubt the best value vs quality shorts in the Castelli range. They are great for racing, great for training, good for turbo training. I also use the free aero 4 shorts which are great, but these shorts are more robust. I have five pairs of these, they really are that good. I am 178cm, 70-72kg and i wear medium. Shop round on the web as the shorts are often on offer. However, these shorts are without doubt the best "value vs quality" shorts I have ever purchased.
