SBT GRVL
THE RACE
On August 14th, some of the top gravel racers in the world converged on the small town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Some had competed in the Leadville Trail 100 MTB the day before and were now leaning into 142 miles of fast gravel and 9,200 ft of climbing. A back-to-back sufferfest not for the faint-of-heart. A feat known as the LeadBoat Challenge.
But this isn't about the LeadBoat Challenge or detailed race coverage. This is about the people that make the race what it is: pros, amateurs, and those whose faces show that they may have just completed the longest race of their lives or possibly had their best day on the bike.

THEN THERE WAS THE BAD WEATHER
Or good weather, depending on who you were asking. For some, the downpour on course—including thunder and lightning—was a relief from the intense midday sun, but for others it was an unwelcome bath with many miles remaining until the finish. But we'd say that the overall smile count was high.
FINISHERS
We were out in the finishing chute to catch up with racers just after they rolled across the finish line. Be sure to watch and have a listen below.
CASTELLI JUNIOR RIDE
SBT GRVL is about more than just race day. To encourage the upcoming generation of cyclists, a short ride was organized to get young riders out on the road and give them a quick intro to some of the gravel roads ridden by the pros on race day.
REGGIE MILLER AND BOOMBABY
NBA Hall of Famer, Reggie Miller, was at SBT GRVL and we partnered up for a friendly hoops contest. The Pop-A-Shot competition was fierce on both days, bringing in kids and adults to sign up to the tournament bracket for a chance to win a Castelli Boombaby Adventure T signed by Reggie.
FNLD GRVL
SBT GRVL is expanding. Those who follow Formula 1 Driver, Valtteri Bottas, have put the pieces together and know that SBT is headed to Finland in 2023. As a huge fan of cycling—and a racer himself—Valtteri has played a big part in celebrating the growth of SBT. One morning, we were fortunate enough to head out on a ride with Valtteri and friends to show off this great new kit.
2023
Although SBT GRVL has wrapped up for the year, we're excited about where things are going and can't wait to get people hyped on the new race next summer. See you soon in Lahti, Finland!
